Señora Carmen Mejia (Tita)
Bal-A-Vis-X Instructor and Young Children’s Community Assistant
Carmen, affectionately known as Ms. Tita, a native of Venezuela, works with our children teaching them Bal-A-Vis-X while engaging them in Spanish. We are very fortunate in that she was able to train directly with the founder of the Bal-A-Vis-X method, Bill Hubert. The program consists of a series of exercises, each rooted deeply in rhythm. They range in difficulty from one hand passing/receiving a single sandbag to both hands bouncing/catching four racquetballs in a specified sequence. Exercises address visual tracking deficiencies and auditory imprecision, impulsivity, balance and anxiety issues and are beneficial for all children. These exercises promote self-challenge, calm and focus.
Additional experiences at Little Flower include working as the Young Children’s Community Spanish Assistant and reinforcing her knowledge of Montessori pedagogy at the annual AMI (Association Montessori Internationale) conferences. While living in Venezuela, Ms. Tita studied at the University of Central Venezuela receiving degrees in Chemistry and Biochemistry and was a researcher and a member of the University’s faculty. A devoted mother and grandmother, Ms. Tita is well-loved and enjoys a good rapport with children of all ages.
